Fixed Income Front Office Senior Developer
Overview:
- Under MIFID 2 regulations, this major Investment Bank Sales and Trading shall ensure that the firm complies with applicable obligations under MiFID II and other relevant Union and national laws as well as the rules of the trading platforms, including trading algorithms, to which it sends orders.
- To establish algorithmic trading policy and controls compliant with this regulation may require Sales and Trading to change their workflow under a revised control framework to monitor the effectiveness of algorithmic trading arrangements to identify and, where appropriate, correct any deficiencies.
- As well as this regulatory aspect, there is also the need to ensure address business requirements, functional, and non-functional aspects of the algorithmic trading system for Fixed Income including.
Role Purpose:
The successful candidate will:
- Ensure successful system documentation according to agreed requirements, timescales and budget for the algorithmic trading desk and support groups.
- Be responsible for development & maintenance releases for Fixed Income’s algorithmic trading application.
- Interact closely with the Technology management and FI IT team, detailing the design and driving development.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with vendors, project managers, infrastructure contacts and other product silo experts.
- Perform a mix of business analysis, hands-on designing and developing, production support and face off to several user groups.
- Liaise with other IT and user departments with regards to user training, support handover and implementation.
- Control
- Understand, follow and demonstrate compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which you are involved, specifically Internal Controls and any Compliance policy including, inter alia, the Group Compliance policy.
- Maintain banks Internal Control standards, including the timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
- Be aware of the Operational Risk scenario associated with your role and act in a manner that takes account of operational risk considerations.
Essential Experience:
- Strong Rates, Rates Derivatives, and algorithmic trading knowledge
- Bonds and Futures fixed income financial instruments
- 7-10 yrs commercial java experience
- Strong knowledge of low latency messaging, multi-threading, and other common front office technology skills.
- Object Oriented design
- Excellent analysis and problem solving skills.
- Knowledge ION and KDB

- Proven ability to communicate with project managers and other developers
- Evidence of willingness to successfully take on responsibility with minimal supervision and deliver trading system deliverables.
