Senior Network Engineer

Position Overview
Major Hedge Fund is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to design, implement and support our enterprise infrastructure. The focus will be on Network, Security and Voice. The candidate will be responsible for day-to-day operational support of these technologies and work along with other team members on various infrastructure projects. This will be a technical support and liaison role with the various business groups and will report to the Head of Infrastructure & Operations.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Configure, setup and maintain the network infrastructure comprising of Dell Switches and Firewalls; Cisco Routers & Switches; and F5 load balancers.
  • In-depth knowledge of networking concepts including OSPF, BGP, HSRP, VRRP, Spanning Tree, L2/L3, DNS, NAT, Multicast, Multi-Chassis
  • Link Aggregation, GSLB, Load Balancing, Wireless, Dark Fiber, and QoS
  • Hands-on experience in configuring and managing firewalls and IPS units.
  • Core security concepts of DMZ’s, ACL’s, endpoint security, north/south protection, east/west malware detection, vulnerability scans, penetration tests, and SIEM technologies.
  • Daily operational support, maintenance and troubleshooting of an Avaya based VoIP telephony network. In-depth understanding of Avaya
  • Communication Manager, LSP’s, H.323 and SIP protocols, call traces, ARS and AAR tables, route patterns, call vectoring, hunt groups, and network scopes.
  • Expertise with Speakerbus turrets and their configuration, management and integration with Avaya.
  • Provide 24/7 on-call support for network systems and infrastructure.
  • Evaluate new products and technologies to be introduced into existing production environments. This includes all aspect of product/technology selection including determining the need; vendor selection; writing comprehensive test plans; conducting the actual tests; implementing design documents; and introducing the product/technology into a running, production infrastructure.

NON-TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or relevant major.
  • Strong technical and trouble-shooting skills are required.
  • Excellent writing and documentation skills to continuously update existing standards and architectures.
  • Good interpersonal and collaboration skills and proven ability to communicate across all business levels.
  • Ability to deliver projects on time, work independently, and on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Have the ability to perform in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to express complex technical concepts effectively (verbally and in writing).
  • Ability to work effectively with a high performing team.
